Frequently asked questions

Cash, Check and Credit Card payments are all accepted. A fee of $50 will be assessed for all checks returned due to insufficient funds or for any other reason and be immediately due from Renter to the DDA.

Decorations must be fireproof and shall be put up and taken down in a manner not destructive to the property. Decorations are subject to the approval of the building administrator. The use of open flames is NOT permitted.

If  alcohol is being served at your event, a current and enforced Certificate of Liability Insurance is required; that certificate should be issued with no less than $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 Aggregate and shall name the Village of Kalkaska and the Kalkaska Downtown Development Authority as “Additional Insureds” on the policy. The policy shall also contain a provision that it cannot be substantially modified without thirty (30) days prior written notice to the Village of Kalkaska and the Kalkaska Downtown Development Authority.

  •  Renter must take reasonable steps to ensure orderly behavior and will be responsible for paying for all damage associated with their use of the facility or equipment. 
  •  Renter must leave all rooms and furniture in the condition and arrangement in which they were found. If custodial services are required to return the space to the original condition, the Renter will be charged accordingly.
  • Renter is not entitled to use areas or equipment not specifically requested and approved per this Agreement.
  • Renter is restricted to the dates, hours, and facilities specified in the application. Buildings will be open/available at the time specified in the application.
  •  Decorations must be fireproof and shall be erected and taken down in a manner not destructive to the property. Decorations are subject to the approval of the building administrator. The use of open flames is NOT permitted.
  •  Renter will be responsible for paying for all damage incurred by the use of the facility or equipment. In the event that property loss or damage is incurred during use or occupancy of the facility, the amount of damage shall be determined by the Kalkaska DDA Board; a bill for damages will be presented to Renter. Payment for damage must be made within ten (10) days of receipt of the bill. The Village of Kalkaska and the Kalkaska Downtown Development Authority District will not be responsible for any loss of valuables or personal property.
  • Responsibility for enforcement of rules and regulations concerning use of facilities rests with the Renter, and any infractions of the above regulations may be grounds for refusing to make subsequent rentals to the Renter for the use of facilities.
  •  Any equipment which constitutes a foreseeable safety hazard shall not be allowed on Railroad Square RRS premises at any time, i.e., yes, you may use knives in the commercial kitchen, but, no, you may not create and experiment with Molotov cocktails.
  • Renter may be required to provide additional portable restrooms, based on number of participants.
